It's always important to make sure that you know exactly what you have. Hallmarks are one of the best ways to check. The number that shows the purity so 375 for example, is the percentage of gold in the item so 37.5% The vast majority of genuine gold and silver is hallmarked, however if there is no hallmark or you just can't see it , it may still be valuable so bring it in where wen can test it!
